Cosmos Holo promos feature a unique rainbow foil pattern. Learn what they are, how to collect them, and which ones are worth adding to your collection.
Quick Answer
Cosmos Holo promos are Pokemon cards with a distinct rainbow foil pattern, often given as participation or promotional cards. To start collecting, focus on the ME Mega Evolution promo set, which includes affordable cards like Weavile, Chikorita, and Whimsicott.
What Makes Cosmos Holo Cards Special?
Cosmos Holo is a type of foil treatment that creates a sparkling, rainbow-like pattern across the entire card surface. Unlike standard holo cards that have a limited foil area, Cosmos Holo cards are fully covered, making them visually striking and popular among collectors.
These cards are typically released as promos, meaning they are not found in regular booster packs. They come from special events, promotional boxes, or as part of limited-run sets like the ME Mega Evolution promo series.
Why the ME Mega Evolution Promo Set is a Good Starting Point
The ME Mega Evolution promo set features a variety of Pokemon with unique artwork and the Cosmos Holo treatment. Because these cards are often given away at events or in promotional materials, they are usually more affordable than other holo cards, making them an accessible entry point for new collectors.
Cards like Weavile, Chikorita, and Whimsicott are not only budget-friendly but also offer a mix of types and abilities, allowing you to diversify your collection without breaking the bank.
How to Decide Which Cosmos Holo Promos to Collect
- Collect for Nostalgia: If you want a card that reminds you of the classic anime or games, choose a starter Pokemon like Chikorita. It's an affordable way to own a piece of Pokemon history. Check the card's condition before buying to ensure it displays well.
- Collect for Play Potential: If you plan to use the card in casual play, look for cards with strong or useful abilities, like Weavile's Retaliatory Claw or Whimsicott's Healing Fluff. Remember that these are promo cards, so they may not be legal in official tournaments.
- Collect for Visual Appeal: If the holo pattern is your main interest, any Cosmos Holo card will do. Choose the Pokemon you like the most, whether it's the fierce Weavile or the cute Whimsicott. Consider buying multiple copies to trade or display in a binder.
